Hi guys, in today's post I wanted to talk a little bit about my favorite brands that do makeup, not skincare! Once again, they are in no particular order these are just my personal favorites and what I have grown to love and come back to after being a professional MUA and working in the corporate makeup world.
1. Starting off strong with a brand that I feel has sort of fallen off of its original pedestal. MAC now this brand is on the lower price point of prestige makeup and is actually amazing quality. They have a great recycling program where f you collect 6 items that you have used up and take them "back to mac" then you are able to pick out a free lipstick or eyeshadow. I think this is a great way to conserve the earth and create less waste. The products are also mainly made in Canada so the production quality is great. One of my favorite products are the brushes, lipsticks, lipliners, and eyeshadows. I find the makeup to be too heavy or cakey and hard to work with. Their face products are nice but not outstanding. I am not a fan of their eye liners, mascaras, or lip glosses.
2. This brand is just so gorgeous I have to include it Charlotte Tilbury. Now this brand grew over its old Hollywood glam vibe. I love the lipsticks, and foundation along with the primers. I find the packaging to be kind of cheap being plastic, I love the look of it but once you handle it, it just lets you down. Some products that I do not think are worth it are the brushes, they shed like no other! Over all if you are into glamour or just aesthetic then go all in I love it, however for the actual guts of it I feel like the packaging could be heftier and the product could be out better.
3. Trish Mc Evoy I MEAN their MASCARA alone! It is THE best mascara on earth. Absolutely game changing, not only is it tubular technology and they were the first to do this. It doesn't smudge. I have mentioned before their lipliners, their brow products, and any face products are awesome. Their eyeshadows do not come prepackaged and the colors are very limiting, their actual lip color range is also very muted and tonal but its in at the moment so it works. Their brand is also made in locally to the states and I love that they are still an independent brand.
4. This brand is founded in France, By Terry. I loveeeee the CC cream and their glow primers. Their products always live up to their expectations and their quality in not just the product but the packaging as well is amazing. Some items that are not my favorite are their concealers, or blushes. They tend to be very chalky and heavily pigmented. Now the reason I love this brand so much is the CC cream it is great for sensitive skin types and makes your skin look amazing. They also have a hyaluronic acid powder that they were the first to come out with it and it is a very close call between the Laura Mercier.
5. Laura Mercier this brand was my first love, their eyeshadows are to die for not only in the quality of them but the color range. They glide on and are so buttery to blend. Whenever I had to do red carpet or wedding makeup that didn't require bold colors these are my go to. Laura Mercier is also known for her tinted moisturizer but in the last year they have reformulate it two times because the new and improved packaging was actually a terrible decision choice as it oxidizes the product inside terribly. I would stick with the luminous finish foundation or the flawless finish. Their lipsticks are okay, but their lip liners are my all stars. Because they are still made out of wood you are able to get a great point and use every last bit of that pencil. Their highlighters and bronzer are so natural. My favorite is the under eye brightening powder too. However, their caviar sticks that are cult favorites I find a little hard to work with professionally, but for day to day people obviously like them.
These were my thoughts on the brands that I love, and cold not live without. I was thinking of doing a drugstore version however, I am not as familiar with the product so i would do that if you guys requested it.
Xoxo,
Ivon Auriema
