Top 5 Haircare Brands | BLOGMAS No. 16

Following que from yesterday's post, I am going to explain what my favorite haircare brands are. Now for reference I have naturally curly hair and a lot of it. At the moment I have blonde in it and I only allow myself to heat style it twice a month. So I keep heat to a minimum and my hair is compromised as well as trying to keep the brassiness away between hair appointments. I have a lot of wants for what a product has to accomplish, control frizziness, control brassiness, protect from heat, moisture curls, soften damage. this is a hefty list for a hair brand but here are my top five in no particular order.

1. Olaplex: This brand became known for its revolutionary product used in hair salons to help blondes become blondes without sacrificing half of their head of hair on the way. I was introduced to this brand in 2013 when I first went entirely blonde. At that time they didn't have the shampoo and conditioner or mask available to the public. However, as its popularity sky rocketed these products became available. My first time actually purchasing the entire set was two years ago when a hair stylist that has a huge Instagram following fried my hair off. I was devastated and reverted to trying anything so that my hair wouldn't feel gummy and so delicate. I just wanted my curls back. This brand helped with that and so much more. My hair now is definitely due to Olaplex. The smell, the suds, the luxe feeling is definitely there the only complain is that the conditioner is so thick that sometimes the bottle needs a really hard shake to get some out for usage.

2. Matrix, now this brand was recommenced to me by my now stylist that by the way is absolutely amazing! Ashley Norman cuts my hair and Chester the hair jester colors my hair! THEY ARE AWESOME! I use a combination of the silver and purple shampoo and conditioners that are actually super affordable. They are great at keeping the tones at my liking between hair appointments. I cannot say more great things about them, the suds are great, the conditioners you can leave in as treatments jut be careful not to overtone your hair. The smell is the only thing that I am not a fan of but I only use Matrix when I feel like my hair is getting too brassy.

3. Oribe this brand is probably the priciest one on the list and one that my mom loves, so I only use this when she splurges on me. I love the smell of these!! The best range that I have tried personally is the blue one for hydration, mom on the other hand loves the green rage for silkiness and curls I think. If you can afford this, please do. I won't expand more on this because there really isn't much more to say.

4. Ouidad this brand is for all of my curly girls, now I wear my hair curly most of the time since I want to keep the integrity of my curls and have a nice head of hair. I switched to this brand upon the Deva Curl scandal that it had chemicals that were actually causing hair loss. I never had issues with the brand but the symptoms were from prolonged use and I probably used the brand for nearly two years. So when I switched to Ouidad I was expecting the same sort of product however I was pleasantly surprised when my shampoo made suds in my hair and forgot how much I loved it. I use their hair masks and styling products mainly since I love my Olaplex and Matrix combinations a little better.

5. Shea Moisture, this brand is great for their shampoos and conditioners, THEIR MASKS, and curly styling products. This is a brand that my husband loves as he has sensitive skin and your scalp is skin. This brand is great for him he has tried several of the different line and loves them all, my favorite is the protein mask and the curling smoothie. We share all of the Shea products because like I said my husband just loves them , lol.

These are my choices for the top five brands, I wonder how you feel and if any of these are on your top five list? Let me know in the comments!
