Welcome back! Yesterday's post was kind of heavy on the heart so I wanted to create something fun and fresh that might inspire some of you to shop for your loved ones. Its the season to give and whether you are shopping for a husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, or even just that someone you care for a friend or colleague I wanted to inspire you to give. Whomever came to your mind as I was describing try and make a small gesture that might make them feel special, loved or cared for.
This year the holidays are going to look different for everyone around the world. My husband and I have decided not to do Christmas presents with either of our families. That being said I've noticed with friends that this is a common trend. However, we still want to give. We want those around us to feel special but not committed to giving a huge extravagant gift. Just a little thought.
This list is in no particular order, just ten things that could cheer someone up, or warm their heart.
1. Up first is a gift card, whether its $10 or $1000 to Starbucks or Bloomingdales. A gift card can be the most versatile way to give. I know many people shun gift cards because there is a stigma that there was no thought behind it, however I have to totally disagree. A gift card may be one of the most thoughtful gifts. You are thinking of that person, where they would want to shop, and you give as your budget allows you to. Especially during these times where we cannot spend time with most of our loved ones, the postal system is severely stressed with online shoppers. a gift card can be mailed in regular mail and will not get broken or damaged on its journey to its final destination. Whether you pay for someone's hot coffee, nails, haircut, dinner, gas or even groceries a lot for people are suffering and even $10 can make a huge difference even allow someone to treat themselves to something they may not have been able to otherwise.
2. FLOWERS! This can be so easy to do and they even send a letter for you. There is a wide range of arrangements you can pick depending on your budget and allows you to create a moment of joy for someone. One of my favorites that is a little different is an edible arrangement or preserved roses that last a lifetime! A beautiful scent to their home and a smile.
3. A book, another great way to show how well you know someone. This allows someone to feel special and thought of because a book can be such a stress reliever allowing people to focus, grow, or escape within their reality especially during this pandemic it will be nice to have a new book to dive into. You could get a book at a thrift store, ship one from amazon there are a lot of options for kids or adults even teenagers or college students help them out with those expensive books!
4. Masks, whether its a nice slip silk face mask, a hair mask, sleeping mask, skincare mask or even pore strips! A great way to pamper yourself at home with plenty of different price ranges. This is something that someone might not usually splurge on but being given this gift allows others to feel special.
5. House slippers! I love my Ugg varieties and I even have a comfy pair that I use indoors and outdoors for errands. Amazon has some really affordable ones as well. This year it is best to send someone the gift of comfort since we are spending most of our time at home anyway! It just warms me up every time I slip mine on at home!
6. Reusable water bottle, cup, or mug. I personally love BKR bottles since they are glass and have a small spout so its comfortable to drink out of. A close runner up for water bottles is S'well. A great travel mug is Yeti. Starbucks bottles are cute but not the most durable and usually they are plastic. For protein shakes I obviously have to mention Blender Bottles. This is a great gift as it can usually be inexpensive but you can always find one to fit your special persons personality and lifestyle need. Plus it encourages people to drink more water when they are home than just a regular glass.
7. I need to put a higher price point item in here, and this year to be honest anything Tiffany's goes. With its classic blue wrapping it is sure to wow and impress whomever is lucky enough to receive this gift. Whether its a teacup or a necklace or a bracelet, even a simple pair of stud earrings these will give the person such a luxe gift experience that they will feel so special immediately. Also, Tiffany's offers complimentary gift wrapping with all of their purchases.
8. Anything local, or small business. This season a great way to boost the economy and support small businesses is to shop small. I know it can be hard to ship if your loved ones are far depending on the item or location. However, it is important to keep in mind where you are shopping this holiday season. Many large business are struggling as well but its the local mom and pop stores that are being hit so hard. Below are some local shops to me but I urge you to go to your local shops or even farmers markets and support your community. This is a great way to give back to not only your loved ones but your community and locals in your area.
9. Board games, this allows for families and friends to come together to play a new game or to learn more about one another and spark up conversations that you wouldn't normally have. A recent favorite of mine is Family Feud also a great tv show for a few giggles, an all time favorite is Candy Land easy and fun for all age ranges!
10. Donate in someone else's name on behalf of them. If the person you care for needs nor wants anything giving them the gift of a donation in their name is a great gift. Even a gift for yourself if you don't want to give this season. There are plenty of local charity groups or donation centers I'll link some of my favorites below but feel free to do your research and find a cause you are passionate about and would love to donate to. It doesn't have to just be money that you donate it could be toys for tots too!
