Holiday Scents | BLOGMAS No. 3

Scents are always a huge part of the holidays for me! If you are lucky enough to be able to go to a tree farm and cut down your own tree and smell it all season long, ENJOY IT. Chase and I unfortunately can't do that in our tiny Los Angeles apartment so we have a teeny weenie little guy that we love. To be able to feel like it is snowing and cold and chilly and winter! We opt for candles or room sprays. I love candles, year round. But especially during the holidays. The part of LA that we live in is quite cold and we have slat windows so our apartment is usually cold which I am so thankful for as we get to cuddle up in blankets and turn on some candles.

One of my favorite candles are the Jo Malone candles, their scents are also good to spray on pillows or blankets as room spray!

My favorite Diptyque candles have come out in special holiday editions! They are a little bit larger versions but they have a very elegant looking vase. My favorite scents are Feud De Bois which translates to wood fire from French. It literally smells like you are burning a fire place even if you don't have one! My other favorite scent is Black Baies which is berries, it is a much sweeter scent in comparison but it reminds me of a having something warm in the house. I can't explain it.  Try it!

Quick tip, you can freeze the vases of any candle and dewax them and use them as flower pots or brush holders! Reuse an item!

Nest is a very underrated candle company that not only creates great candles but they also have diffusers that are a cheaper option that lasts quite a bit!

Quick tip, if you regularly use diffusers you might already know this but if you feel like the sticks aren't spreading the smell as much anymore just flip them upside down into the oil and the oil will run back up the opposite way and will smell again! You can do this an endless amount of times!

Voluspa is another candle maker that doesn't get as much love. You may have noticed that there isn't a Bath & Body Works candle on this list. The reason being, I've stopped purchasing them. I used to love them and burn them constantly. I do still have quite a few left that I really haven't gotten around to burning sadly. That is because Chase has become very sensitive to scents. I had only been using cold humidifiers and adding essential oils to them as room scents before the holidays because of his sensitivity. You don't really think about what a candle is made of until you have to. Voluspa has year round scents that I love and Chase loves too. To bring my thoughts full circle again, Voluspa is made out of Coconut wax which means it burns cleaner than most candles on the market, it doesn't turn black at the wick and all of their ingredients are essential oils. This product is also made in the USA and is more affordable than Diptyque or Jo Malone. I am all for supporting indie brands and local brands.

Quick tip, while your candle has melted from burning and after you blow it out you can dip your finger in the hot wax and rub it on scent points to help the scent linger longer on your body.

Happy Holidays!

Xoxo,
